Off to lead my eighth public #philosophy salon in #Chinese (Mandarin) and English, here in #Tainan, #Taiwan. This is the first time I haven't been pacing anxiously all morning — just the last hour or so.
Which suggests either a) my Mandarin is slowly improving, or else b) I'm just more unabashed about blundering around and making mistakes.
Of course, it may be that a) and b) are, in reality, more or less the same thing.

It's cool and fun though. It's all free. We hang out in the arts centre, talking about fun things. The people who come are mainly self-proclaimed aunties. They tease me mercilessly. We crack jokes. We pick our way through 文言文 texts and try to make sense of them. We drink tea.
