quick shout out to how absolutely robust Ubuntu package management has been for me. I'm not sure who/what all to give credit, I just thought I'd broadcast my gratitude for apt, dpkg, and friends. I accidentally stopped two different 22.04 -> 24.04 upgrades on two different computers in the last couple weeks, and both of them self-healed after I ran apt -f install
and apt full-upgrade
. Miraculous.

@meonkeys It's certainly impressive what the Ubuntu community has done, and even more so, in my opinion, the underlying tech and culture of Debian, on which Ubuntu's building... The fact that Debian is driven by (so far as I can tell) a sense of honour and purpose by its maintainers (rather than VC funding or Shuttleworth's fortune) makes them that much more impressive.

You should give credit to Debian.
