Dear Barry repair cafe,
I'm hoping you can give me some guidance regarding domestic dehumidifiers which can be repaired.
I bought one a few years ago and lavished nothing but TLC on it, but one day it just wouldn't switch on. I mentioned it to someone at Swansea repair cafe and they replied "Dehumidifiers are tricky". I do need one to demist my house, but don't want to have a lump of useless e-waste after just a couple of years. Pls advise, if you can.
Love from Semele xxx

@semele sorry, didn't see this as we weren't tagged.
I'll see what our repairers have to say and get back to you.
If you can make it down to us on 5th October (or to our sister cafe in Cowbridge on Saturday 21st September) we can definitely take a look though.

@semele "There's a number of possible faults inc simple cabling and switches.and we have looked at these machines previously."
"Or more ventilation."

@RepairCafe_Barry
🕙 ...a couple of hours has passed, most of which time I spent trying to dislodge one of the 6 screws I could locate. This involved a bit of percussive maintenance. 🔨
I also checked out the website of its manufacturers, read up on how dehumidifiers work, including desiccant versus refrigerant models, and in the end I put it back together and thought 'Well, let's have one more go', and I plugged it in and - it works!
See, just talking to you did it!
