NĂºmenoreans were indeed fools. They turned their back on the gifts of their Elvish cofounders and the Valar (gods), came to favor Sauron's lies, worshipped the cast-out evil god Morgoth, and attempted a fleet invasion of Aman (the undying lands) to the West. In response, the gods sunk their microcontinent (in a nod to the myth of Atlantis). The parallel to today's uprising of strongman backed populist fascists around the world is sadly relevant. #TheRingsOfPower #RingsOfPower #fascism
