This is an iOS automation I have that auto-replies “stop” to robo-texts based on their contents. It’s annoying to set up correctly as a couple bits are unintuitive.

1. Open shortcuts app, tab to automations

2. Tap to add one, then tap on “message”

3. Tap “message contains” and enter a trigger phrase (eg “stop to end”). For now leave it to require confirmation. Tap next.

4. Tap “new blank automation”

5. Tap “send message” then tap “message” and enter “stop”

6. LONG PRESS “recipients” and choose “shortcut input” from the popover

7. Tap “shortcut input” and select “sender”

8. Tap “done”

9. Open messages and start a message to yourself (or an accomplice)

10. Type the phrase and your automation should run

11. Optional: edit the shortcut to not require confirmation

12. REPEAT WHOLE PROCESS for each term you want to trigger on
