I was perusing through my Facebook account where I joined a lot of #Linux communities. I noticed there was one post where a guy had installed #LinuxMint on his elderly mother's laptop.
Someone had commented on it saying that installing linux on an elder's computer is like giving a parakeet a calculator. I think this assessment is categorically false. I have Linux Mint installed on my 80 year old grandmother's desktop, and she never has any problems, and I never worry about security.
It's not giving a parakeet a calculator--it's releasing the parakeet from its cage.
