Some Guix users recommend that one run everything using Guix Shell, so this is not much of a limitation.

@monkey1 yes, I know. I see currently problems in running products that require privileged execution to finalize. Containers in those cases generally use mixed modes, e.g. apptainer. Anyway I agree, in many cases that can solve the issue.

I think Guix forces a rethinking of containers--the "lift and shift" approach is not likely to work.
The fact that Guile has a very robust wrapper on POSIX allows folks to try things that would be unthinkable in other distros.
Lots of sharp edges still. I know Guix would never fly at most corporations.
