I guess either option 1 or 3. (Edit:) Second one is harder to read, and IIRC snake_case was explicitly avoided before (has_bom in fread, IIRC it ended as just bom) for the sake of consistency.

Just took a look at the R full reference, and there's no "(show)progress" argument, because it's usually "trace" (in regression optimization) or "quiet/verbose", which in {data.table} already means something else.

By the way, is "progress" an option?
