@ivory if you move a user to a list, filter them from home feed, but have notifications turned on for their posts you actually don’t see the notifications. Is that intentional with the filtering that I have done?

@gh0sti Just tested this and I'm still seeing the notification. Hiding users on a list from the home feed is a client side thing and so it wouldn't be able to affect push notifications.

@ivory I’m going to test moving you to a list and see if I still get notifications from you.

@gh0sti Are you doing this from the website or within Ivory?

@gh0sti Yea user notifications aren't suppressed with our "filter user from home" option. Maybe check your list setting on the website and see if that option is turned on there? If so, then mastodon is doing the suppression.

@ivory so I don’t believe mastodon has that kind of filter for if a user is on a list and filtered from home that you wouldn’t get user notifications.

Here’s the use case.

Follow @macrumors as example.

Create a list called Apple.

Turn on notifications for every time macrumors post.

Move macrumors to apple list and toggle on filter from home screen.

You will no longer get notifications from said user even though they are turned on.

@gh0sti So I was wrong earlier about when you filter users from home in a list. That’s now a server feature and so whatever the behavior is with notifications is coming from the server and not in our control.

@ivory so the server mastodon.social has something on their end blocking push notifications for when you put specific users into a list and hide from home feed?

@gh0sti I'm assuming that's just how they built that feature.
