Both have a few hundreds monthly active users, it might be easier for you to contribute there than start your own community.

lemmyverse.net/communities is a useful tool to find existing communities. You can set your home instance using the right top button, communities will then open on your instance, making it easier of you to participate.

I am guessing he created his own Stargate community because no one in the existing communities liked his meme or when he had a tantrum that no one liked his meme.
