Split canal bridge. The gap (usually closed by now) was to allow a horse-pulled canal boat to go past the bridge without uncoupling the tow rope.

And which is your favorite?

@Ingiald You know how these things go... but the new Pentax M 28/2 was glued to my camera for weeks! I think it is a little bit better than the Cosinon-W (more contrast, maybe not sharper), and has nicer bokeh than the other two. Probably not enough better to justify the much higher price, though I'm glad I got the Pentax 28/2. Pentaxforum reviewers seem to think the Cosinon has more aberrations, though I've not seen problems there.

@carusb Love these, Chris. It shows how close the lenses are to each other. You will see abberations when you use the lenses adapted onto a digital camera, but they wont be far apart. The Pentax lens coming out on top courtesy of the extra money spent on polishing and coating. Native lenses are built to a Standard and are "Quality Assured". 3rd party lenses are built to a budget and are "Quality Controlled". eg. 1 in 100 is thoroughly tested.

@Jim_Graves All good points, Jim. Was it you that wondered whether the Pentax was actually built by Cosina? I'm a bit inclined to doubt it, among other things, the focus apparently turns the "wrong" way. I don't have these lenses to hand to check, but I will next week.

@tomnorthfilm Thanks Tom. It was a surprisingly tricky but interesting task. Nothing ended up where I thought it should have (including the snail, which started at the top and worked its way down to the bottom).

@tomnorthfilm It was supposedly the point, and you would have noticed it at the top (inside). But by the time I'd faffed around to my satisfaction, I didn't notice the snail had moved, either!

@carusb A lovely pastoral scene Chris, and the range of tones from that FP4 are gorgeous. Those old Helios lenses really do a terrific job of rendering a scene - I really must use mine more often.

@stevenlawson Thanks Steven. I nearly didn't include this image as I feared there was nothing really in it, but I kept coming back to it. I do enjoy the Helios, but these days I'm loving my SMC "K" 55/1.8 even more!
