In Ambler, Pennsylvania, Lindenwold Castle, the former home of Richard Mattison is surrounded by new development on the former 400-acre Mattison estate. Mattison was a cofounder of Keasbey and Mattison Company. The company and its successors were major producers of asbestos products throughout the 20th century. Company executives were assigned houses that can be seen lining Lindenwold Terrace, facing the former Mattison estate. Life was good? 1/

Eventually, it came to be accepted that asbestos exposure causes malignant mesothelioma, a deadly disease. Who knew? Good question. The time from first exposure to onset of the disease is between 25 and 70 years. Ring any bells?
