I noticed something interesting while visiting my parents yesterday. My dad is generally quiet about politics, while my mom has largely focused on Biden's age (she doesn't like Trump and I don't think she'd have voted for him either way, but she was VERY concerned about Biden). My visit yesterday was like a switch was flipped... my mom AND my dad were quite vocal about Trump being a moron and both vowed they'd vote for Harris. There was a palpable sense of relief when the topic came up.

I got my mom's sense of civic duty, as she votes in every election. My dad hates jury duty and was certain "that's how they get you." They call him anyway. So I asked him to go vote this year, because it's important. He said he would but he couldn't because he didn't vote in the primary (!!!). I made sure to correct him on that and assured him he could cast a vote in the general election.

@lauren Wow, that's an unexpected misconception. There are people who I think don't even know primaries exist.
