Grow, little tomato, grow! 🍅 You might be surprised what plants will grow after acquired from a restaurant or store. Husband wanted to see if a cherry tomato seed from a salad he had at a restaurant was viable. It was! Seed has grown into a tall tomato plant (appears indeterminate), flowered, and now has a little tomato growing! Exciting and interesting. We’re still learning from it. #StayCurious #IndoorGardening

He lovingly calls it a shirt tomato. Because… while eating one of his salad tomatoes, I shot a bit of juice (with seed) onto my shirt. He salvaged the seed in a napkin used to dab off my shirt. So… shirt tomato. 😂 And here we are.

Shirt tomato update: Lots of tomatoes! And most have ripened. About 21 little tomatoes from one restaurant tomato. Neat!

@click2carney Tomato seeds are incredibly resilient. We got sewage sludge compost for our garden one year and found tomatoes sprouting everywhere - peppers, too! They survived going through human digestive systems and the processing at the sewage plant!

@MonarchLady They really are! True survivors. Tough.
One year we had compost with pumpkin seeds (Halloween). They went through frost, got mixed deep in our boxes in spring, yet worked their way up to grow! One even flowered and produced a tiny pumpkin. We were mostly impressed because it had to grow through about 6” inches of dirt and in cool Alaska, at that.
Nature is amazing.
