Like, a lot of far right-types at least have moderately internally consistent beliefs, as abhorrent as they are (not to mention externally inconsistent with, ya know, reality). But a lot of liberals get really really intense about beliefs that fall apart under, like, 2 words of scrutiny. There's something really unsettling about it.

I think I've also just seen more of this than usual wrt liberal attempts to defend Israel, and my ability to cope with it has been worn down.

@lumecolca I think liberals get under our skin because they’ll sometimes claim that they share some of our values, but when push comes to shove they never actually attempt to put them into practice.
I can only really speak for myself here, but I find myself in spaces dominated by libs more often than ones dominated by conservatives (online at least, though it’s better now that I’m off Twitter). Liberals get really fuckin nasty when you remind them that they’re not actually Doing Shit for anyone — and often, all it takes for me is just existing and living my (actually quite mundane) life to remind them how poorly their embodied vs professed values match up.

@lumecolca Also! I think it means something very different in 2024 to consider yourself “liberal, but definitely not a socialist or anything” than it did in like 2008.
