First memory of BTS - #arMay

Honestly, I think it was just seeing the occasional gif set on my Tumblr dashboard, lol. Like I very distinctly remember seeing screenshots and gif sets of Jimin and Hobi from Hobi's birthday live in 2016 (which was only about 2 months before this whole thing started for me, lol).

But seeing gifs on my Tumblr dashboard isn't what got me into them! (Or even made me curious enough to look them up, lol). Their music is what caught me! I was just poking around Spotify looking for some music to listen to while I study, and my Discover Weekly playlist was all K-Pop. And Dope was on there. It caught my attention enough for me to see who the artist was and I was like "Is this the BTS I keep seeing on Tumblr?"

I did study that night. Except I ended up studying BTS instead of Quantum Mechanics... until ~3am on April 13 2016 :blobcatgiggle: Oops!

Favorite music video - #arMay

Since I can't choose one (not a huge fan of "favorite" things as my tastes change by the minute it seems, lol), I think I'll just share some MVs that are special to me in one way or another.

Starting with Dope! That first night I went looking for the translation to the lyrics after hearing it on Spotify, and was pleasantly surprised to find that there was also a MV!

Next one is Epilogue: Young Forever.

This was the first release I got to experience in real-time. At the time I was having a hard time, both academically and financially. And dealing with the feeling of wanting to quit (again). So it was comforting to have a song that encased their fears and hopes with the message of "dream, hope, keep going".

The day after the Serendipity MV came out, we had to put our cat down because her kidney disease had progressed so much that she wasn't eating or drinking anymore. While bad for "streaming and charts", I had this MV on loop for 2 full days. Truly the only thing that brought me comfort during that time.

And finally, while technically not a MV, the Black Swan Art Film brought me to tears.

MN Dance Company put on a beautiful performance; combined with the lyrics about the fear of losing one's passion, and mustering the courage to push through, it really got to me.

I've been there. I've experienced that. I lost my passion for music and found it again through BTS.
