What is this cut in the pan?

Purchased some empty full sized pans. Out of about 10, 4 of them have this wedge shaped cut.

It's very deliberate. It's not a manufacturing fault.

What do you think the purpose is? I can't fully fill them, unless on an angle.

I'm a little stumped. Any feedback welcome.

@SchickeSchickeSchweine That is so weird. I've never seen that, it wouldn't be very functional.
