I 3d Printed 2 of the knob from this collection https://makerworld.com/en/models/560176?from=search#profileId-479407

(I could have modeled them myself but was quiker that way, no need to reinvent the wheel )

I painted them with 2 posca pens (silver and black) a drawing gum pen (for the flakes) and a coat of gloss varnish.

I also printed a custom support to secure the arduino Pro Micro inside the box

The box is an old usb hub from the late thinkgeek (https://www.geekalerts.com/usb-doomsday-device-hub/)

I changed the inside and replaced almost all the switches (only the red button is an original one) by:

• 2 spring toggle switches(auto-jump back to off in the center)

• and 2 rotary encoders

everything is connected to an arduino Pro Micro and controled by a QMK firmware.

I used Auto HotKey to control the behavior (only main volume knob and track swith have media keycodes the rest is F14 to F19)

I made a thing,

it's a custom macro pad.

the buttons do the following :

• upper left : turn for main PC volume, clic for mute/unmute

• lower left : Up for extended multi screens/Down for single main screen

• upper right : Up for previous track / Down for next track

• Lower right : turn for after effects volume (via the windows mixer) clic for mute/unmute active tab in firefox

• center red button, launch VPN (might change that one )

Gluing parts together.

The vertebrae bones are linked by metal wire not glue.

I had planned only a single wire through the ball connections but it happens to be too weak/flimsy. So I added 2 twisted wires throught the spine cord path to strenghten it .

The added wires will be visible (not in the pictures) but nothing is perfect 🤷

Another step : the skull parts have been sanded and painted , the vertebrae and rib bones are beeing painted (the rib bones are too small and fragile to be sanded.

The plan is not to do the whole snake, only the head and a small part of the body , making him « getting out » of the wall.

I decided to try and print my king cobra skeleton.

This is the fdm printed parts of the skull before I sand and paint them.

I don’t own an airbrush , and i am not very good in brush painting, so will probably do a bad thick hand paint job on it ^^.

Hello la mastodonie Metaleuse,
