I am looking into starting an organization for collective maintenance of #treesitter grammars, in the spirit of @jazzband. Would anyone be interested in joining?

If anyone has insights about how #jazzband (or similar) has been doing, I am also keen to learn more.

New blog post, about a recent obsession of mine: off-the-shelf #governance models applicable to small #FOSS projects. What do you think of the idea? Would you like to work on that together? https://antonin.delpeuch.eu/posts/off-the-shelf-governance-models-for-small-foss-projects/

New blog post: https://mergiraf.org, a syntax-aware merge driver for #Git.

Supports #Java, #Rust, #Golang, #javascript, #cpp, #csharp, #html, #json, #yaml and #xml so far, and it's quite easy to add support for more thanks to #treesitter.

New contribution experience report, about fixing a bug in @thunderbird . Spoiler: it went surprisingly well, they have made some serious effort to ease first contributions since last time I tried (and failed). Go #Thunderbird! ⚡ https://antonin.delpeuch.eu/posts/contribution-experience-report-thunderbird/

Just spent 2.5 hours on the phone remotely fixing an @ubuntu after a crash during the upgrade process to 24.04. Spelling out letter by letter commands to type for my relative. We are both traumatized. Don't upgrade and don't let your friends upgrade. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/network-manager/+bug/2055012 #ubuntu2404 #ubuntu

Anyone planning to go to #FOSDEM from Berlin in 2025? I'm looking into booking an entire cabin for 6 people on the #EuropeanSleeper train for both ways. That would be about 64€ per person per trip. Let me know if you are interested!

#train #bus

Of course there's already a Phabricator ticket about the #redis license change and its impact for #wikimedia: https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T360596

What are the plans around #redis usage in the #wikitech #toolforge, especially after the license change? Will we switch to a fork? Also, does it actually make sense to have a redis instance shared between many tools, when redis provides (AFAICT) no user isolation at all, meaning that the tools can overwrite each other's data (on top of potentially competing for resources like connections or memory)? The docs encourage prefixing keys, but it can't be enforced, right? https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Help:Toolforge/Redis_for_Toolforge

If you do batch editing on #wikidata or #wikicommons, beware that the batch undo functionality of #editgroups is currently broken and it's not clear when it can be restored. Details here: https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata_talk:Edit_groups#Not_working? #redis #toolforge
