Wrote some thoughts on my 2024. I always think posts like this shouldn't take too long and then am surprised that 3 hours and 2500 words have passed since I started.

Why am I expecting myself to be productive or do a million things today? The garage is clean for the first time in 12 to 18 months, inherited things have been finally sorted and hauled to good will, and I don't have work until Monday.

Collards didn't transparently pick up new directories and watch their contents during the serve command. That's fixed. Not exactly December adventure but nice to knock it out.

Lately I have been wondering "what is a good way to relearn CSS from scratch in 2024"? I'm an experienced engineer but know so little of design. And the web standards have advanced a lot since I got into the field 15 years ago.

Hell, is there a good book on fundamentals of design? Feels like there's room to interleave the two topics.

Rewrote / made meaningful improvements to hot reloading in collards today. #lisp #DecemberAdventure

I've been keeping a JOURNAL.md file where I try to make an entry anytime I spend over an hour or two hacking on the project. Been enjoying it and it doubles nicely as a Dec Adventure log in this case.

On the one hand, I really like the intuition here. Working with computation is an excellent way to see abstractions and ideas come to life and understand their rough edges.

On the other hand, boy do I think that there's a lot of inequity we would have to address to avoid this having vast negative impacts in practice, nevermind whether or not the schools/instructors are prepared to teach it.

What a world it could be though, eh?

I've enjoyed playing with Advent of Code but I'm more interested in other things this year so will probably skip it.

I will probably December Adventure instead without expectations around what I finish. A few ideas:
