given the enormous information warfare budget, it sorta feels like it doesn’t do any good to get mad at nebulous groups of voters. people were tricked, and a lot of money and effort was spent to trick them! not to mention gerrymandering and voter suppression that will never be fully documented.
what do we do now? i dunno. but it’s very petty to post “well i guess you should have voted for kamala” like she didn’t get almost as many votes as Biden a few years earlier

like, yeah, make sure this function receives a string or whatever. but when you put a type on every single object, and the only thing the type system really seems to do is yell at you for not having precise matches the checker can interpret, EVEN WHEN all the required data is definitely present…????
I’m sure there’s a lot I have yet to learn. I’m also pretty sure Typescript is not, in and of itself, Good

I’m a professional programmer, accidentally, after many many years of learning alongside other jobs. I have to use Typescript for my current project.
I really, really dislike how much time I spend coercing types. How often the resolution to a problem is to put “as unknown” between 2 types that don’t quite match even though they should. What… is the point of all this? I can appreciate the guidance on how something is supposed to be used. But why do type systems always feel sort of… like a lie?

things are maddening right now. I’m countering the change I can’t control with some that I can; moving in with a dear friend, rearranging my domestic life to save money and be in community more. simply fulfilling my current work responsibilities continues to be exhausting. but I’m continuing to look for new work.
this week’s minor personal a accomplishment: I’m about to get my first ever platinum playstation trophy. Metal Gear Solid V. Revisited in the last month; one of my faves to goof in!

When the Rebels learned, however, that Emperor Palpatine himself would inspect the battle station, Madine had rejoiced at the opportunity.
Mon Mothma, though, appeared sickened. “The assassination of political leaders is not the sort of tactic the Rebel Alliance will condone […] even if they are our enemies.”
“Then we will lose,” Madine said. “The Empire has no such reluctance. Do you think they would hesitate to assassinate you in an instant, Mon Mothma, if they were given the chance?”

as I get ready to move from the place I’ve lived by myself (for the first time ever) for around 3 years, I’m letting myself feel the sadness of leaving what has been my home.
An era is concluding; I’ll never again lie on this couch and play games, or sit on this porch, and so on.
Many good times. But predominantly, very lonesome. Long years I’m proud to have survived.
I’m moving in with two loved ones: a human and a cat. I feel welcome there. Going to make my new space a better home if I can
