While people are rightly enjoying FOSDEM with waffles and Belgian Fries in Brussels this weekend, it's maybe interesting that outside the conference at Campus Solbosch of the Université Libre de Bruxelles a new government in Belgium was forged, led by Bart De Wever of the right-wing nationalist Nieuw-Vlaamse Alliantie. It's happening all over Europe and it's happening fast.

Ich fühle mich so massiv intellektuell beleidigt. Gesetz gegen illegale Migration – hören die sich eigentlich selbst zu, wenn sie illegale Dinge verbieten wollen? Es gibt bereits Gesetze, die ich teilweise schon zu menschenfeindlich finde. Wir haben aber eine disfunktionale Verwaltung, die mit der Umsetzung überfordert ist, ebenso mit der Suche nach Hunderten rechtsextremen Untergetauchten mit offenem Strafbefehl oder der Versorgung von psychisch Erkrankten.

The Chinese Lunar calendar needs historical records of astronomical observations and some very hairy mathematical calculations. This is the point where I give up and simply use precomputed data and available libraries. Bummer.
