"Fahrenheit 2451: what would you save?"

Academic Conference in San Francisco

https://ideasworthsaving.org/

What a way to start the Lunar New Year with a gathering like this at @internetarchive !

Image and text from the website:

"Discuss knowledge preservation and dissemination; dig into theological and literary texts, films, and works of art; get inspired by ancient, timeless truths; and explore ideas worth saving."

Wish I can be there! Hope there will be follow-up recordings or blog posts.

Our journal, to reach out to research communities in Taiwan for practicing better data management planing, started two years ago at a seminar in Academia Sinica. At that time, we received inquiries from international scholars and students asking whether such workshops would be held in English in the future.

We are very happy to say the @depositar team can now answer in the affirmative: An online Webinar in English will be held on Dec 12:

While Internet Archive is under attacks, at least let's re-read this post by @maria

https://blog.archive.org/2024/10/08/vanishing-culture-keeping-the-receipts/

There is no complete and knowable record of any part of the past, no magical, permanently accurate 'history.' The records we are keeping now—filled as they are with contradictions, uncertainties and errors—are all that tomorrow can inherit from today. ..."
