On the first day of Christmas my true love gave to me, a partridge in a pear tree.

I built an altar from the wood and sacrificed the bird as the ritual prescribes.

(Might continue this later, jotting the beginning down while it's in my mind )

@Tusky I frequently lose drafts in the Android app because I go to another app to find a quote or a link or something, and when I return to Tusky I get my timeline and not the post I was writing, and it doesn't automatically end up in drafts. Is this something fixable, or do I need to be more diligent about saving drafts before leaving the app?

I bought a trail cam to learn what animal was pooping on our back stairs. We now have the first suspect, a Gray Fox, Urocyon cinereoargenteus, who returned two nights in a row to inspect our stairs all the way to the screened porch

Haven't caught it pooping yet, but it appears to spend a moment to mark the spot where poop usually appears.

It's there a way to report a spammer just to their home instance? When I spot a spammer in a reply to someone I follow, who are not in my instance, I see no real reason my home instance should be bothered with the job of blocking that individual. It's plausible no one else in the instance will see that reply. But to report them I first have to report to my instance and then I'm given the option to also report to, say, mastodon.social. I'd like to only bother mastodon.social.

Be nice to new arrivals from Twitter, let them get used to the place before inundating them with advice and requests. Except this guy. You can just block this guy.

This is parody, but also reality. The Onion has bought InfoWars, forcing human scum Alex Jones to rebuild as a new brand and replacing all his old crap with ... who knows what, but it can't be worse than Sandy Hook conspiracy theories and nutrient pill scams.

TFW you're waiting for the science.org "log in through your institution" page to load and you notice it's stuck on "Waiting for www.facebook.com..." Why TF is Facebook involved with your access page Science?

"Phydeaux" was a great pet store name.

I refuse to go shop at "Feeders".

One of the most depressing (to me) opening lines in a Wikipedia article is "The Aral Sea (/ˈærəl/)[4][a] was an endorheic lake".

Its demise started before I was born, but when I was a kid it was the third largest lake in the world, and now it is history.

This was a predictable disaster, which could have been averted, but it would have required some sacrifice, and no one was willing to forgo the benefits for themselves to save a lake somewhere else.

When double checking that @Kierkegaanks s profile image was who I thought she was, I learned the actress in this Swedish Pippi Longstocking movie was German. Learned her lines in Swedish, but was then dubbed by an actual Swede to get rid of the accent, and then had to be dubbed by a German when the movies were released in Germany.

The other night I realized my headlamp reflects off the back of spider eyes. Since then I spend a lot of time on the last walk of the day with the dog marveling at the number of tiny watchers all around me. #spiders #nature
