I am on the verge of buying an e-ink screen for an #esp32 board and start a vendetta against #garmin by making a foretrex of my own that will be used as an #aprs/lora and whatnot terminal besides navigation.

While #foretrex is still the least #enshittified device Garmin makes, it having bluetooth and can do crap with it drives me crazy. My radio, my gps, my pc have BT and non can talk to each other.

What do you think?

I am looking for something to sink my money and time once again. Is there anyone out there that can mentor me achieving long dreamt #RC #airplane world today?

Specifically I am hoping to print my own delta wing and use #ardupilot to make autonomous orthophotography. I am lost how I can get into this best with limited budget.

I think this might be one of the coolest thing I have ever made...

It is a #orienteering #map of #GrandBazaar in #Istanbul for visually impaired, designed as a game. Which one can attach on forearm and rotate.

If anyone curious how this experiment goes, it worked wonderfully so far. Cog holds up fine after several hundred Km's. The only issue is that the original models teeth is a bit wide for my chain and binds up with the chain when I back pedal. I am fixing that and printing in petg now.

This one deserves a celebration! These Peltor helmet earmuffs were living rent free in my drawer for 12 years in hopes to to be reunited with the lost helmet adapter that has slid down a #mountain return of an mixed #alpine #climb. I have never managed to find an adapter or a discared earmuff.

Then I realised. I HAVE A #3DPRINTER! I simply transformed these into a regular earmuffs and plan to implement a mic boom and 3.5mm jack for #hamradio ops. #3dprint for win.

I feel like I need to keep an end of the world, emergency quick reference printed #book for simple electronic circuits.

Sometimes I see circuits online that feels likely be helpful in an disconnected world. Like a simple NPN lead acid battery charger circuit.

Being born into pre #Internet era made me scared returning that times where trying to make something involves an immense lack of information compared what we have today. I think most #data hoarders feel this way.

Any suggestions?

I think I understand what this radio wants. It needs bluetooth 3.0 or 4.1 with HSP protocol supportes. Which eliminates any recently made quality headsets. Good job Kenwood! Way to use stocked up old chips in a 2024 radio!

There are a lot of good headsets with good drivers, removable booms etc. But now I have to buy kenwoods expensive mono headset!

I come to realisation that we as humans should actually be called MIAV instead of cats!

If you think about it every name for cats we have come from ancient Egyptian and besides many names, they have also named them Miav and most likely your language have something similar.

Also cats only #miaw to humans. So if you think about it they call us miavs. So we are miavs not #cats.

For the love of everything good, did anyone have ever managed to get ANY mainstream consumer bluetooth headset working with #kenwood #thd75?

I tried almost every ear bud in the shopThey simply don't pair with this radio. JBL 500 bt over ear headphone and JBL clip 3 bt speaker that I found in mud climbing a while ago works. JBL endurance and jabla elite 4 not worked even they support HSP

WTF is wrong with this radio?

Dear #nature goers I need some suggestion.

For a #wilderness #navigation training document I am looking a #nationalpark to #map around the world but better in #Europa. It needs to have good #openstreetmap data, rich in natural features to display such as peaks, rivers, cliffs foresrs etc. Minimal human infra and good #trails, paths, tracks.

Any suggestions?

Proudly, I present to you Digimaker...

I grossly made several circuit mistakes and still surprised that it did not explode when I powered that. I fixed the traces and now it works like a charm.

It digipeats and beacon on its own and my hacky code fixes made it announce correct symbol and coordinates. I consider this done besides some further improvements in the future.

I should have bought a #3dprinter long time ago.

I had a problem with my brake. It required hydraulic oil change which costs a fortune. I had not the proper bleeding kit...

Until I #3dprinted the adapters and sourced unused vinyl tubing and syringes. Amazing...

Then I got into full maintainence mode and realized how much I hate original #Shimano bushing wheel. I simply found a model, remade it for 604 bearing and press fitted it in 30 mins.

Future is today!

It is 04.20 AM and got a lesson in obsession. It is fun to work on something that you are passionate about but sometimes you need to give a break. I didn't realise the missing gnd =)

I have finished the hard part of my stand alone #aprs #digipeater project. I had to modify the code for digi signs and location info in the packets.

[#]3dprinted case and battery terminals are next. Also I need to test that circuit but need an extra earphone to sacrifice first.
