If you're heading to #FOSDEM with a #SailfishOS phone there's a new FOSDEM25 app for this year with:

  1. Improved higher-res map of ULB.

  1. Improved guestbook.

Grab it from OpenRepos or (hopefully, eventually) Chum:

After bringing my home server back on line, first task was to do a full offsite backup.

--------------[ Backup Statistics ]--------------

StartTime 1736085633.09 (Sun Jan 5 14:00:33 2025)

EndTime 1736459234.27 (Thu Jan 9 21:47:14 2025)

ElapsedTime 373601.18 (103 hours 46 minutes 41.18 seconds)

It took a little longer than expected... four days, seven hours (it's only half a terabyte of data, but that's home broadband speeds, I guess).

"Reckoning and Renewal, Part V". How did I do with my 2024 new year's resolutions? What am I planning for 2025.

I accept it's derivative, oldskool and late ๐Ÿ˜ but I find this useful motivation. Don't judge me too harshly!

Last year I wrote about my decision-process for choosing a new home server.

I eventually went with a CWWK i3 N305 Fanless Mini PC. Now it's all set up and running, did I make the right choice?

https://www.flypig.co.uk/blog?&list_id=1216&list=blog

The short answer is that it's great. When it comes to home servers we live in a world of rich possibilities and I can't tell you how happy I am to have one up and running again. Living without for the last few months has been tough!

My #JollaC2 Community Edition phone is finally fully working and I'm spending a bit of time getting to know it.

I like the physical feel, although some aspects will take a little getting used to (big screen, rounded corners, notch). I do appreciate the subtle touches like "Privacy from Finland" printed on the camera bump. Captures the spirit of #SailfishOS.

Can't deny I'm thrilled to see #Gecko ESR91 running on it.

Now to spend some time getting the software set up just right!

Choosing a small, low-powered, home server, with so many options, each with their own benefits, is no easy task.

But I have finally chosen and this is my rationale.

A Brief Embedded Browser Expo.

As part of my continuing exploration of embedded browsers, a hands-on look at three nice examples: Chromium Embedded Framework, Qt WebEngine and Sailfish WebView.

What features do they support? What do their APIs look like? What are they like to use in practice?

And what is an embedded browser anyway?

A blog post I've been meaning to write for nearly 20 years: simple Templating in C.

I talk about how to create a simple C++ style template, but using only C code and C pre-processor macros.

Nothing groundbreaking, but a fun exercise that I found helpful in understanding templates more generally.
