I didn't know this was a thing, and I recently had a site of mine unpublished. DNS records were still pointed to GitHub's IPs. Today I saw that the domain was opening with some Indonesian casino ad website. Turns out, GitHub does not check that what you put in the CNAME file actually belongs to you!

For anyone who uses or follows #Share2Fedi:

Due to JavaScript ecosystem being what it is, I am currently unable to deploy anything other than what was already deployed. Meaning, I can’t deploy any bugfixes, add support for new software, or add new languages.

I hope it can be solved by migrating to yet another major version of Astro. I am so tired of it pushing multiple major versions per year, though, so I plan to rewrite the whole app sooner or later 🙃

This, and whatever the problem with Astro and Vercel is, will take most time out of today.

I've been putting off renting a VPS, but I think it's finally time to get one. Not because I need to compute anything, but because I just need an HTTP server that doesn't break all of a sudden.

My website cannot be deployed any more because #GitHub stopped supporting the old upload-artifact action. In this case, I knew about the update and just forgot to apply it. But how should a beginner, who set up their GitHub Pages blog using official guides, understand what's going on, especially when no prior warning was sent out to the repo owner?

I can't deploy the current main, because the Node version i 20, and it does not work (the issue is over a year old). I can't set the version to Node 18, because it does not have globalThis.crypto. But a few months before, none of this was a problem. I can't even re-deploy the thing that had been successfully deployed not even a year ago!

Ugh, Vercel is such a joke.

1. Make everyone anxious when they run Node.js 18, because it will be dEpReCaTeD soon™

2. Make your builders use a different glibc that the runtime

3. Pass builds without warnings as if nothing bad is happening

4. Start requiring strict runtime compatibility out of the blue and break the builds

I can't push any fixed to #Share2Fedi right now, because it will not build on Vercel, which hosts the primary domain 🙄

You see, it’s not just about photos. For me, Instagram has become the only way to reach out to a lot of people from my childhood and teenage years.

Classmates and teachers, pals from two universities, exchange students and their families. All use different messengers and social networks, half do not use the phone number they used to, but all of them are on Instagram. Even in Russia, where it’s banned, people are still on there.

This is definitely an interesting experiment of migrating away from Instagram. The set intersection of ‘people who follow me on Fedi’ and ‘people who follow me on Instagram’ consists of literally two people xD

Maybe this will make me post photos more often. I kinda stopped posting actively on Instagram, as Meta has been getting more and more shady.

But I can’t leave Instagram quite yet.

When I was young, I hated being sick. I was bored the whole time, and, unlike for other classmates of mine, my parents forbade me to use the PC or watch TV.

I somehow still haven't met a single person who schedules their OoO replies correctly. They should start after your last day at the office before leave, and they should end after your last "presumed" day at the office before returning.

So, if you booked your leave from Monday, the automatic replies should start on Friday evening already. And, if you'll be back in the office on Monday, the replies should stop on Friday evening before that.

Nun klar, bahn.expert und Co. haben hier recht, denn sie zeigen ja letztendlich das, was tatsächlich fährt. Und der Fahrplan 2024 ist mittlerweile auch veraltet; ich finde aber nicht den neuen. Und, wie gesagt, ich finde gar keine Erwähnung, dass es ICE 79 FFM—BRU jemals gab. Bin nur verwirrt.
