The kernel configs project is updated with Android 15 (kernel v6.6), which was released in September but I guess I missed it. Also it has the latest Ubuntu and Fedora kernels.

I'm reading this chapter because it began with this master class of snark that made me say "gosh maybe I don't know all the basics, I'd better not skip it"

Pretty cool milestone: with my recently-merged patches to pahole, you can build a Linux kernel with BTF that has types for all global variables.

Then with my development branch of drgn, you can debug that kernel with ZERO external debuginfo! Just kallsyms, BTF, and ORC.

It's an early milestone for BTF compared with CTF, but already quite a few of the drgn contrib scripts are working!

Just published a deep dive on how we have made it possible to debug the kernel with drgn, without installing any debuginfo packages, on Oracle Linux.

This is a really cool feature that we're in the middle of upstreaming, so it's not quite present in drgn's main branch. However the article has links to all the relevant code, PRs, and issues, so you can see the process in real time, and learn how to get it working on other kernels/distros.

A friendly reminder to all that the kernel debugging & drgn BoF will be at 3:45 in room 1.14 for those in person. I'll follow-up here, on the mailing list, and in Matrix with the info for remote attendees.

Planning to spend some time in and around Prague after LPC. Any suggestions on things to do?
