The W3C Web Interoperable Runtimes Community Group ("WinterCG") and Ecma International (the organization which standardizes ECMAScript, also known as JavaScript) have collaborated to create a new Ecma Technical Committee, TC55 – Web-interoperable server runtimes, dubbed "WinterTC", for the development of a common web-aligned API surface for server-side JavaScript runtimes like Node.js, Deno and Cloudflare Workers.

The CSS Working Group has published the First Public Working Draft of CSS Multi-column Layout Module Level 2. This specification describes multi-column layouts in CSS, a style sheet language for the web. Using functionality described in the specification, content can be flowed into multiple columns with a gap and a rule between them.

The GPU for the Web Working Group invites implementations of the first Candidate Recommendation Snapshots for WebGPU and :WebGPU Shading Language. WebGPU is an API that exposes the capabilities of GPU hardware for the Web. An application using the WebGPU API uses WGSL to express the programs, known as shaders, that run on the GPU.

ARIA in HTML has been updated. This spec defines the authoring rules for the use of Accessible Rich Internet Applications (WAI-ARIA) 1.2 and Digital Publishing WAI-ARIA Module 1.0 attributes on [HTML] elements. The Second Screen WG has published two First Public Working Drafts: Open Screen Application Protocol and Open Screen Network Protocol. The Open Screen Application Protocol allows user agents to implement the Presentation API and the Remote Playback API in an interoperable fashion. The Open Screen Network Protocol is a network protocol that allows two Open Screen agents to establish a secure network transport in an interoperable fashion.
