Trans Punk Manifesto

Whereas:

• Identity can never depend on anything that can be purchased, and

• Individual existence precedes group typology, and

• Male and female, masculine and feminine, straight, queer and even transgender are all received conventions and must be examined very closely on an individual basis before being applied, and

• Even then arent necessarily always applicable, and

• Dominant culture has historically used criteria such as "beauty" and "realness" and genital configuration to divide us and turn us against ourselves and eachother, and

• Medicalized definitions of gender have defined our bodies only as malformed objects in need of correction or replacement

Therefore, be it resolved that:

• We will freely disregard and destroy language and typology when they fail to reflect our realities, and

• We will reject any pathologization that alienates us, and

• We will always stand by our tranny siblings, even those who are different from us, and

• We will respond to our expulsion from non-trans communities with the creation of new trans - communities, and

• We will modify and define our bodies and lives however we see fit.

Pissed off about the idea of a "correct" gender marker.

As if there could ever be such a thing for so many of us.

As if having an F on my license would decrease my risk for violence,

As if I wouldnt get clocked as trans no matter what letter is there.

As someone thats young enough to have had access to the internet for roughly my whole life a skill Ive been building up is knowing when a thought should be written somewhere thats NOT a text box on a website.

If you're having trouble articulating a thought in a way thats legible to others you can pull back and put that thought somewhere where its free from others' perception.

Put that shit in a notebook or notes app or on the back of a receipt or something.

If it develops into something you want to share with other people you can copy it into the website text box but that should not be the default.
