really appreciated that on today's KPBS 2 Nature rerun the narrator casually referred to a woodpecker as a dinosaur. Even Prehistoric Planet 2 messed up on this regard

on the way home i saw three very young puppies (playing?) w a dead kitten (alas i forgot phone)

were they trying to eat the cat? the times i've seen local adult feral dogs hunt they did not eat the kill

the puppies seemed to be trying to open the carcass by biting and pulling

a leg had already been detached from the carcass (by the puppies?) and was laying nearby

i did not stay long as a i did not want normies to notice what had happened

these guys are meant to (superficially) lack paired organs (like Stapledon's kangaroo people)

@mike i am thinking i should dissect it and try to prepare the skeleton. however this is a very young animal. a lot of the bones are probably unfused (and cartilaginous?). what are some things i should keep in mind?

@mike one the local street dogs recently had puppies. while observing them i noticed one was not moving. i picked it up and sadly it was dead. me being me i felt like i would be dishonoring the little guy if i threw it in the trash. so now there is a dead puppy sitting in the freezer
