The Dutch book series Drägan Duma is one of my all-time favourite book series. I love the sarcasm in it, and the dragons!

Even though there is no queer cast of characters, I absolutely love it. The Drägan Duma books are without doubt the books that I have re-read most often. It is my go-to comfort read in Dutch, even though it can be a bit dark.

I love how every time re-reading it I notice new things, or have different feelings at different passages. Even though it is "just" 'Young-Adult Fantasy'.

I strongly recommend the Drägan Duma books, written by Patty van Delft.

The pre-quell is already available in English! An Unbreakable Bond, by Patty van Delft.

I don't care about people possibly seeing that I like furries.

And I like that I now found @boltrailwaydog.bsky.social on Fedi, albeit bridged from Bluesky.

The only thing I don't like about it is that now that horrible platform knows even more about me...

The evil Book of Faces discovered today, by shoving a Facebook post of @boltrailwaydog.bsky.social into my feed, that I'm not averse to furries.

And after I told Facebook how true their prediction was, by immediately following Bolt, I suddenly got more furry content in my feed!

Lol!

The Cornish, Breton, and Welsh words for 'thunder' are all the same!

'taran'

Which of these two Welsh words has more possible meanings/interpretations?

'Planhigyn' or 'Offeriant'?

In case anyone would love to help translate my Android app StoryGame into one or more of these languages, just follow the link!

Breton, Welsh, Danish, Esperanto, Spanish, Basque, Finnish, West Frisian, Irish Gaelic, Manx Gaelic, Scottish Gaelic, Cornish, Icelandic, Latin, Limburgan, Norwegian, Slovenian, and Swedish.

Why these specific languages?

Why not! Though I deliberately threw in some more interesting languages. :drgn_angel:

One note, though, if the translation for a word closely related to the word in question can have more multiple meanings, please use that one!

Example:

The English word in the game is 'Poetry'. However, in the Dutch version it is 'Gedicht', which means 'Poem'. However, it can also mean 'Having been closed'. Therefore for the Dutch version there the word chosen means 'poem' instead of 'poetry'.

Oh no. I have 20 minutes left to hand in my paper.

I am trying to come up with a good title.

I keep trying to come up with good puns as title...

Ik weiger de vroege variant van het Iers te schrijven als 'Oudiers'. Dat ziet er gewoon niet uit, het is onduidelijk. Officieel hoort het op die manier geschreven te worden.

Ik schrijf zelf altijd 'Oud-Iers'. Dat is veel duidelijker.

Geen taalfout, maar een bewuste keuze om een tekst leesbaarder te houden.

And it is not like I am getting much words in anymore at this moment.

I guess it really is too late to keep working on it for now.

Off to bed then.

Ugh. I have still not finished the paper that I have to hand in tomorrow. (Friday).

I need to write at least 401 more words to be within the required word count range, and there is only 1 thing left I can think of to write of, and I am not sure if I will be able to put that much words into that...

And I do not think that my conclusion will be about 300 words either...

Anyway, it is by now really time to go to bed, I guess.

I mean, it is already Thursday now...

Could a native German speaker maybe help me?

I need to know if two sentences indeed contradict each other, as it looks like they do.

I already asked some non-native speakers and they all agreed that it seems contradictory. I would like to hear if a native German speaker thinks so as well, or that there might be a different meaning somewhere.

This is about something in a source I use for the paper I am currently writing.

Oh, I should still write down my dream I had last night in which elements of a certain book series played a role!

Gotta do that first then.

And thereafter I should really head to bed.

Ah, I just found myself writing half a sentence to realise that two of the words in it rhyme, and then my answer became a poem...

Which meant that it took me much longer to write it than it would otherwise have been...

Have I just found an error in Thurneysen's A Grammar of Old Irish?

The edition I have is the 2017 reprint.

The first sentence of § 107 reads:

However, § 35, the last paragraph in the section on orthography, is about abbreviations...

I suspect that the reference should have been to §§ 37 and/or 38 instead.
