[#]GIMP 3.0.0 RC3 is now at 83% with only 10 issues to fix!

You'll notice how we are now at 49 already closed reports now, while we were at 14 to close with 38 closed reports a few days ago! 😉

We will have 2 talks at @fosdem this year: one with our hat of @GIMP maintainers; the other is a WIP screening + live music (@ORL_AMMD and 2 other musicians from AMMD) of ZeMarmot animation film + talk as a keynote talk! 😱

Both will happen on Sunday, February 2, morning in the main room (Janson).

And now the last blocker for @GIMP RC2 has been merged! 🥳

It's code by @pippin for a new "Perceptual" blend space for layer modes (in fact the old "perceptual" blend space was rather a "use image's profile curves" blend space so it was renamed to "RGB (from color space)"). It fixes some layer modes where the algorithm was rather expecting the input to be perceptual.

We are very close to a new release candidate! 🎅

Side improvement while working on more important #GIMP code: I implemented history search with Ctrl-R/S (as common in shells) in the Python Console plug-in, because I use it so often to test various libgimp functions that I felt having to hit up/down arrow to find previously run code was too inefficient.

Now I just Ctrl-R Ctrl-R (as many time as needed to find it back). 😊

So today I kinda finished my branch for a new public filter API in #GIMP 3.0.

We used to have special-case code for specific filters. Now it will be generic code able to apply any GEGL operation as a filter in @GIMP, just like the GUI already allows!

Of course, it makes use of the non-destructive filter infrastructure so you can append filters non-destructively or merge them old-school!

Tonight my brain is foggy (too much code). I'll review again and will merge tomorrow. 🥳

Happy 29th birthday, @GIMP ! 🎂🎉

On 1995-11-21, #GIMP was born as a General Image Manipulation Program 🖼️🎨 as a student project in the University of California 🧑‍🎓. 29 years later, it is still there, more independent than ever as a worldwide Community, Free Software project!

Since in my current part of the world, it's been the 21st for many hours now, I figured I'd wish our dear project and its contributors all the great future it deserves! 💌

Now 98% till @GIMP 3.0 RC1! 🥳 And yesterday in particular a particular huge milestone was passed with the last major API update (though I'm still looking at details in case of forgotten issues in the API)!

You may notice that we are only 1 opened issue down since last screenshot, but that's because a lot of other issues were also fixed (342→365 closed issues). The team is working hard! 💪
