[#]Mastodon and #Bluesky are, or will be, pretty much like Linux and Android. While being technically open source (AOSP), Android is effectively locked by the proprietary Google services. While technically tending to be open and decentralized, Bluesky will be dominated and effectively controlled by a single instance. You're either completely open source and decentralized, right here, right now, or you are not. There's no middle ground.

[#]Linux on #Snapdragon X is such a mess right now. Each device needs support (device tree, firmwares and whatnot), even Linux VMs are pretty hard. WSL2 and Hyper-V are only options, WSL2 is slow with GUI, VMs hang after boot in Hyper-V 🤦‍♂️

This might be very interesting, being an AOSP thing. If performance and power consumption turn out ok, I’ll gladly accept running stripped down AOSP running postmarketOS or whatever else #Linux on a Pixel

People should keep in mind that consumer x86 mostly exists thanks to the ecosystem lead by #Windows, and could continue to do so without #Intel. Server side is a bit different, #Linux and BSD pretty much never depended on x86.

Vivaldi, almost open source web browser chooses the proprietary app store as a main distribution channel for #Linux, instead of #Flatpak or #AppImage. Good luck with that.
