"Eline Bosman heeft lang nagedacht of ze met de pers zou praten. Gevraagd naar haar analyse van het Nederlandse Israël-beleid, laat de voormalig ambtenaar van het ministerie van Buitenlandse Zaken regelmatig een korte stilte vallen. „Dat vind ik best lastig”, zegt Bosman dan. En: „Dit interview loopt enigszins anders dan ik had gedacht.”

Achter de bescheiden houding schuilen echter heldere principes. Bosman velt een hard oordeel over de rol die Nederland heeft gespeeld sinds de aanslagen van Hamas en het uitbreken van de Gaza-oorlog op 7 oktober 2023. Nederland, zo zegt Bosman, is door het ijs gezakt als internationale voorvechter van de mensenrechten. Het feit dat de bloedige oorlog (ruim 1.200 Israeliërs en meer dan 46.000 Palestijnen kwamen om) tot een einde lijkt te komen, doet daar niets aan af. „We kunnen niet zeggen: laten we vooruit kijken. Iemand zal hier toch rekenschap over moeten afleggen.” …"

Although tomorrow at 6.30 AM UTC the ceasefire in #Gaza officially starts, it does mean the following:

🍉 Never trust #Israel, the #US, #Egypt and #Qatar!

🍉 Always stay alert that Israel can at any time cancel their part in holding up the ceasefire. The probably will use lies for that.

🍉 Never forget that #Netanyahu and other war criminals still earn their due.

You can say that you move to Mastodon, Pixelfed, or even bloody Bluesky. In the meantime you can copy and paste their voices on those new social media sites. You can free their voices from the claws of the fascist big tech algorithms. Than everyone can hear their voices here without corporate meddling. Yes let's do that!

So just keep your account over there, but never interact with it. Only use it to liberate content from marginalized people.

Somewhere in a group chat someone said that when you leave that hell-site Formerly Known As #Twitter, you also leave the people from #Gaza who are on there. Those people have not the time to leave Twitter and build-up a new social profile.

This is true, but there are a few potholes in this reasoning. Let me explain.

It's a fact that people from Gaza and other parts of the Global South are relying on corporate sites like Twitter, #Instagram and don't forget #Facebook. Yes, it's not our task to play the white saviour and urge them to leave those toxic sites. On the other hand, don't forget that those sites are owned by white men, so we have some responsibility here. Especially as an anti-capitalist.

Don't forget that are also people from Gaza (and the rest of Palestine) outside those big tech hell-sites. Like here on Mastodon, Bluesky and other social websites. So with this reasoning you (as a pro-Palestinian activist) should be present at all those sites. Most of them are not, so they shouldn’t complain about us not being there.

Especially on Twitter, but also on Meta sites, Palestinian voices are silenced. They receive a low ranking in the algorithms. You can follow them, like and share them, but their voices will probably never leave your bubble.

But there is a solution …

Misschien moet ik toch maar even mensen waarschuwen voor #Bluesky! Of had ik dat al gedaan? 🤔

1. Bluesky is een commercieel bedrijf, gefinancierd door durfkapitaal. Dit houdt in dat de volgende Musk, Zuck, Bezos, enz. de boel kan opkopen en er zijn eigen toko van kan maken.
