How is it that USB PD 3.1 PPS is shipping in hundreds of products and nobody has made a simple box that takes USB C input, 2 banana jacks output, and provides a knob and a 7 segment display to set the voltage. Come on I don’t want to have to roll my own

My Bluetooth headphones are failing weirdly and I think I’m about sick of Bowers & Wilkins, having had three sets fail in various ways over 4 years now. At least this one is within the warranty period!

It should not be possible for my window manager/X session to become unresponsive just because a public IP is unreachable! What the fuck!

Like some of it is my fault sure, but. It should not be possible to lock up and freeze my entire system because DNS is slow/not reachable. Yet it happens every time, and it’s a different stack of programs responsible each time. How is everything this fragile!

Hell, in this case even explicitly local network resolved domains didn’t work on my desktop, because DNSmasq froze trying to reach a resolver that was never in the chain for them!! I am gnashing my teeth!

So there was an internet outage last night.

Good news: we could watch a film because Plex worked.

Bad news: my DNS setup made some of my internal services break when they are otherwise entirely local, and fixing it is gonna be a whole Thing

Just heard my UPS yell that it had disconnected from upstream, and went to see what was going on. Everything seemed to look ok, and then after five mins it clicked back into upstream. I checked the graphs, and woah, that would be why!

Wonder what just happened on the grid?

When you vote for me for US President, you’re voting for what Americans really want: compulsory track gauge change at every state border. This will create a truly stupendous number of jobs in public infrastructure and is the sort of weird separatism y’all crave.

Unicode is hard, so we just put all user passwords through Google Translate API to English before storing them so that they’re always in ASCII.
