🚀 BIG ANNOUNCEMENT: Clifton & I Are Making a Film – A Red Road to the West Bank 🎬

Clifton Ariwakehte Nicholas and I have been friends for a long time. We’ve worked on films together before, but this is the first time that we’re truly co-directing a project—both of us taking the wheel. And it all started with a conversation about a much bigger film we want to make.

For a while now, Clifton and I have been talking about a documentary with the working title You Live on Stolen Land, exploring our shared experiences with colonialism—as a Kanien’kehá:ka from Kanehsatà:ke and as a Boricua from occupied Borikén. But in one of those conversations, Clifton casually dropped that he had all this footage from his trip to the West Bank in 2016. I was like, dude, what the fuck are we doing? We HAVE to do something with that footage.

So we started digging in, watching the tapes, talking through ideas, and what emerged was a powerful story—one that draws connections between the struggles of Indigenous peoples in Turtle Island and the Palestinian experience under the colonial state of Israel. Obviously, the histories and conditions are different—the colonization of the Americas started centuries ago and is in a different phase—but the core reality remains: colonization is ongoing.

That’s the main point we’re trying to make with this film.

And we don’t want to just make a film—we want to build relationships. We want to bring people from Palestine to visit Turtle Island, we want to do more interviews, we want to expand this story. But to do that, we need resources.

One of the biggest lessons I learned from working on Yintah was that if you want a film to reach a lot of people, you need to invest in the early stages. The development materials, the research, the pitch decks, the editing—all of it matters when knocking on doors to secure funding for a truly high-quality film. With Yintah, that process helped us get wide distribution, and I know we can do the same here.

So today, Clifton and I are launching our fundraising campaign to kickstart this project. This is just the first step, but it’s a crucial one.

🔥 Support the film & help us tell this story: amplifierfilms.ca/redroad

Hey y'all, I wanted to share some exciting news—this Saturday at 10 AM Eastern, we’re officially launching the fundraising campaign for my new documentary, A Red Road to the West Bank. This film follows my homie, Kanien’kehá:ka filmmaker Clifton Ariwakehte Nicholas as he travels to #Palestine, witnessing firsthand the deep parallels between Indigenous struggles in Kanehsatà:ke and the #WestBank. It’s a story of resistance, solidarity, and survival—one that needs to be told.

We would love your support in spreading the word when we go live! Whether it’s a share on social media, a message to friends, or just checking out the campaign page, every bit of support helps.

Thank you!

For fans of #DavidLynch this special on #NTS is a real treat. Lot's of his soundtracks, but also interviews and movie clips. Super well done and not too intrusive, so you can listen while doing other shit.

Given the blatant re-writing of recent history and boldface lies by #theorangeone ... for example -

-#Jan6 was a love fest (14,000 hours of footage of violence are wrong LOL)

-#Stargate was his idea (Project Stargate began as early as 2022)

-The US Is the only country that offers #BirthRight Citizenship (about 30 other countries do as well) etc. etc.

...It's time to re-read #1984 by #GeorgeOrwell - despite most people focusing on the surveillance aspect of the novel, it's most chilling prospect is the real time re-writing of history as it's happening today.

Or give Adam Curtis "Hypernormalization" doc a view.

[#]Neonazi leader changes his tune and turns into a loving raver after rolling on ecstasy. Well not exactly, but this story might spark a few campaigns such as #DoseMusk #Molly4Fachos and #RavingNazis

Say what you will about #BadBunny (no I'm not a super fan and I could do without all the sexism in his music and videos) what's he's doing to uplift our spirits as Boricuas (Puerto Ricans) by positively representing us in his new album and videos and short films, is a massive service. I cry every time I hear BAILE INoLVIDABLE. His short film about the new colonization of Puerto Rico is not incredible but is exposing the gringo takeover happening in the island right now. One would hope more #reggaeton artists would follow Bad Bunny's evolution as an artist and political activist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1Femq4NPxs

Watched #Flow with my kid last night, and holy shit, what a beautiful film! Much to my chagrin, my kid (who is 8.5) thought it was boring, yet he watched it till the end and laughed a lot, so I think he was just trying to be a little jerk, so don't listen to him. He's too young to write a proper fuckin film review anyway.

February 16th marks the #OmarAziz day of remembrance. This anarchist comrade and cornerstone of the #Syrian revolution showed us how to build something beautiful in the face of tyranny. While others fought for power, Aziz pushed for collective care, grassroots self-organization, and mutual aid—practices that can outlast the worst regimes.

Let’s not just remember; let’s embody his spirit and continue the struggle. Solidarity is forever. ✊🏽🔥 #Anarchism #MutualAid #RevolutionarySpirits #Syria

In the summer of 2011, I was utterly spent—physically, mentally, creatively—after hauling my film END:CIV across North America. When I returned to Vancouver, I had no place to live, so I did what many DIY filmmakers do: I moved into my van. Then came an invitation that changed everything: members of the Unist’ot’en Clan asked me to screen my film on #Wetsuweten territory.

So I piled some anarchist friends into my old camper and headed north, not realizing I was about to witness—and document—a legendary fight against pipelines on the #yintah. This is my story...

Best film I've watched this year so far (I watch a lot of fuckin movies!) "Evil Does Not Exist" by by Ryusuke Hamaguchi. Many themes for folks who give a shit about the environment, and hate #gentrification and fuckin #hipsters. The pacing is slow AF - you have been warned Thx @zola for the recommendation

If you liked "Kracken Calling" by Aric McBay, you'll love "The great transition" by Nick Fuller Googins - a #SolarPunk novel that doesn't offer a sanitized version of their post #climatechange world. Instead it undoes the "we won the rev now we can relax" myth and tackles tough conversations about the use of violence, being parents and revolutionaries, and the very tough choice of going underground. Highly recommend it!

I've been hooked on podcasts for 20 years now, and it's mostly news and analysis. While I find it's good to stay informed, the compulsive way in which I consume news does not serve me or my mental health. If I'm doing something with my hands, like cooking or cleaning, I'm listening to podcasts. So last year I started listening to #audiobooks instead. This doesn't deal with the compulsion to consume media at all possible times while not awake or working, but at least I give my existential anxieties some rest. I use the Libby app to connect to my library accounts and borrow audio books. Some books have pretty plain production with one reader which is fine, but other would use multiple people to do the voiced which is fun. With that said here's a couple I enjoyed. I should say that I don't do non-fiction on my audiobook sessions, as that would defeat the purpose, so it's all fiction.

The Great Transition - Nick Fuller Goggins

Utopia Avenue - David Mitchell

The Expanse - James S.A. Corey

The Passenger - Cormac Mcarthy

Radicalized - Corey Doctorow
