I spent time learning what I could about LLMs, their predecessors, and all the stuff that's been added to them so I could converse intelligibly on the topic. This led to me finding ways to use it responsibly. Knowing stuff rocks.

I don't think the anti-AI crowd hates good uses like climate modelling, but I do think they're easy marks for people who want to use their ignorance on the subject to attack the sciences because they don't realize how much AI/ML is in their world already b/c they think it means generative stuff.

Remember when dansup called for jackbooting postal workers in Canada because the strike inconvenienced him then he tried to play it off as nonserious
And now he spent hours ranting about someone he booted off a project to the point the Mastodon lead called him in on it
When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

The Stuff, for the curious:
A Rode Podmic (XLR)
Samson MBA38 arm (can hold anything I'd want to put on it)
Focusrite Scarlett Solo 4th Gen (3rd gen is in the range of compromise for the worse preamp, much cheaper and the dynamic range gets a little low for a dynamic microphone)

Andor is one of those shows I expect to be widely appreciated in retrospect 5 and 50 years down the road. No one I've suggested it to regrets watching it.
It has too many quotable speeches that suit our times for it to fade out.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but not only do SSDs not need defragmenting, it's bad for them. They have their own process for keeping things orderly on the controller, and it doesn't look anything like what defrag does.

I haven't bought a monitor in a long time. These 4K 30+ inch monitors for under $300 seem too good to be true. What should I be looking for/watching out for?

The swiss cheese of federation created by allowlisting and random defeds makes it hard for people to understand where each other is coming from.
If you don't see it, you're relying on other people to hand you links to it, and you can never be sure they're giving the whole context.

If I were going to be negatively impacted by workers striking for a better future I wouldn't do boss shit like whine about how it affects me and call for strike breaking. I would simply express solidarity and appreciate their struggle ultimately benefits me
But you do you
