The Advent of Code is having its "online cheater" moment: Each year in December, thousands of people gather online to solve coding puzzle as fast as possible over at adventofcode.com -- this year, however, the leaderboards have been completely overrun by people automating the solution of the puzzles with large language models. As someone who used to take part, I think that's a huge shame. It's December 1st, and that means it's time for a new round of daily coding puzzles in the Advent of Code! It's a wonderful way to pick up a new programming language/framework or to get into coding altogether. There's usually something for every skill level: they start out pretty straightforward, then get more challenging later in the month. At https://youtube.com/watch?v=5GFW-eEWXlc&t=1480s, the characters in the 1977 epic space opera Star Wars state the first 48 (binary) digits of the recently discovered Mersenne prime. That is, 47 years before its discovery. That's some serious prescience!

Google threatens to kill my app developer profile, because my driver's license and government ID have different names on them (they don't) and my Danish health card isn't a government ID (it is).

Let's just get rid of Play Store and App Store please.

Goofing around with NotebookLM's podcast generator that everyone's talking about. Seems like more of a cool party trick right now, but with a bunch of tweaks, I could imagine how audio summaries could be useful in e.g. literature reviews.

Asked to summarize a GitHub repo containing a recent weekend project, it declares (at 2:15) that

it's like the code is a master braider

I lol'd.
