hhh I want to delete my Meta account, but I feel locked into it by the fact that:

• it’s the only platform where I can reach most of my family (though tbh I don’t interact with them much, they’re increasingly radicalising towards the right)

• it’s (instagram is) the only platform where I can reach some of my kink friends, AIUI

• the Quest 3 is locked into the Meta cinematic universe, and I can’t justify getting a different VR headset right now just to avoid a login dependency

but, at the same time, I feel absolutely morally degraded every second I have a Meta account, and when this shit happened to X I had absolutely no qualms cutting that platform loose (many of the people I lost access to are reappearing on bluesky or fedi, now)

I never know what to feel about synthwave passing itself off as an 80s aesthetic. It’s definitely inspired by the 80s, but that’s not the full story - it’s a very specific subset of 80s musical genre and popular culture, taken out of wider sociopolitical context, and merged with modern genre, production and sociocultural norms to make something new!

Say I want to stream a game by a developer who was, at the time, using a deadname, and this means that said deadname is strewn all over the credits and very difficult to avoid inadvertently displaying. What is the most sensitive way of handling this, above just consistently using the correct name yourself and not directly calling any attention to the deadname?

(I’ve seen other people handle other situations wherein the deadname was easily editable out of the game by going in and replacing it with the name, which is very thoughtful)
