While y'all are checking the bitcoin price, I've got some wisdom for you developers:

Bitcoin Core's wallet seems to be crazy slow.

It takes my beefy machine 4.5 seconds to generate 100 blocks to an address in the wallet.

It takes <0.01 sec to generate to a random address.

I second this. Fuck trademarks. It's been called Jabber since the start, some USA company supposedly owning that name shouldn't stop us from using the name for our chat network. It's a recognizable name

I've always been sad about some missed SI opportunities. Who has to come up with "tons", f.e., while we have the perfectly good megagram? People even go as far as applying SI prefixes to the ton, using "kiloton" instead of gigagram.

São Paulo so far:

This nostr thing isn't really working too well. I get a notification, click on it, the post is gone. ( @niftynei it's yours)

Then it shows a ton of supposed replies that seem random posts and not replies. If they are replies, the spam problem is huge on here..

I've been noticing more and more websites and services block people using a VPN. It annoys me a lot. nixos.wiki for example block all VPN traffic.

Now it seems you can't watch YouTube videos without logging in anymore.

The internet is literally getting worse and worse every year.

I'm using this new #Mastodon + #Nostr client called #openvibe. It has a way to go, but I feel that it's on the right track. Single feed for an account on each network.

Ideally I'd have my reposts be posted on both sides. It also often loses track of where I am on the time-line. But in general the experience is pretty smooth!
