Maybe one "good" use of AI would be to automatically add tags or captions to images in toots that don't have them. Getting tired of my long list of filters getting bypassed by people not adding image descriptions.

Yes, it probably wouldn't always be accurate or even correct, but I'll take that over seeing full screen crap I don't want to see because someone didn't CW or add alt text.

Wow, the new @arstechnica site design is terrible. I always told people that Ars was a good example of how to do a good mobile layout. Now they've Verged it. And why is everything so big? I may have poor vision but this is absurd.
