under the hood: rix() now generates default.nix that point to our rstats-on-nix fork of nixpkgs with many backported fixes and much better support of Apple Silicon computers!

Also, courtesy of @cachix, we now have a cache of binary packages, so building environments is fast!

rix() can now create default.nix files that point to development versions of R and/or Bioconductor packages!

rix v0.14.3 is on CRAN with many new features and improvements!

Here is a sneak peak of what awaits you:

new renv2nix() function to convert an renv.lock file to Nix default.nix file!

rix() now correctly handles packages with remote dependencies!

rix() can now use either an R version or a date to generate a Nix default.nix file!

Please, if you have an idea for a package, just write it and publish it on CRAN. The availability of high quality packages are one of #RStats greatest strengths, just package stuff please

sometimes I'm asked by colleagues from other public administrations what they should ask candidates they want to recruit for data science roles... my go to practical interview question is a link to this data:

and asking to reproduce the graph in the picture using the tools they prefer, but the data is not immediately in a format they can use for plotting, and a surprising amount of candidates struggle quite a lot!
