Got my new, modest commuter #bicycle (a Diamant 247) delivered to my door today. And made it ready to ride quickly.
As a reward for the delivery I handed over a piece of brand history (and my own first bike-related investment back in 1991) to Trek's marketing man. That one had been decommissioned a long time ago and collecting dust. #vintage #mtb

Sad and disturbing to hear about two casualties at this year's #SydneyHobart race. Both crew members on separate boats got hit by a swinging boom at night. And both were highly experienced sailors. This casts a dark shadow on the regatta for sure.

Continued update on the state of my #health following the Longo #surgery:
In fact, the recovery time from this surgery is more like 4 to 6 weeks. From the doctor's view my recovery has been proceeding excellently, and he was pretty surprised to hear that I had stopped taking pain killers on the 5th day after surgery.
So I guess what I need to improve on now is what I am really bad at: being patient and letting things happen. Ah well, at least it's the quiet festive season now.

Just a short update on the state of my #health following the Longo #surgery I went through on December 10.
Two days ago I had a first follow-up appointment at the hospital. Based on my expectation of a recovery time of 3 to 5 days, I had a whole list of complaints for the surgeon in charge.
After presenting these complaints, the doctor was half amused and half enthusiast, explaining that the various kinds of discomfort that I had experienced were perfectly normal. #Switzerland 1/2

At an age of 19 this guy had moved out from his parents' place for the first time and ignored all rules, showed zero consideration for other people living in the apartment block, threw garbage out of the window and ended up provoking a police raid on my apartment on December 14th. A door got smashed in order to get hold of that little piece of shit.
And yes: went through a bastard of surgery on December 10th and still suffer from it. Festive season? Not for me, folks.

Speaking of the #festiveseason: I could easily have done without the last 4 weeks.
As I've already reported I crashed hard with my road bike when doing groceries on November 26th.
On December 1st, my mother died after a three-month stay in a care center she hated profoundly.
On November 30th, a guy who would turn out to be an utterly reckless idiot moved into my apartment. Ten days later, I had no choice but to terminate the subletting contract without notice. #life #hardships 1/2
