Trying to play some Civ 6 with my sweetie, and their stock Windows install just keeps on going wrong, requiring updates and restarts and whatnot.

How do people using Windows as a daily OS get anything done? Genuinely, what happens when you have an important presentation and the computer is just like "nope, I need an hour of me time for updates now"?
