I'm hearing so many stories online (r/fednews; tiktok) of #union organizers and lawyers standing up strong and proud to defend the government public service workers who work every day to ensure our safety and well-being. My thanks go out to them. I hope they can be a beacon of light to workers everywhere of what can be accomplished when we stand and work together.

Sometimes we joke about "How did I not notice the signs earlier?"

Today I'm remembering that time in high school when the school counselor asked me what colleges I wanted to apply to. I was overwhelmed and not in a position to come up with a good answer. So I blurted out the first thing that came to mind: I named the college my mother went to.

My mother went to an women's college.

I wasn't trying to be difficult. It just hadn't occurred to me that it might not work out so well.

Reputable news sources are starting to publish reports of internal US State Department communications that they intend to start rejecting passport gender change requests immediately.

If you get a passport rejection because of your gender, the ACLU wants to hear from you.

I set cleared cache again, set my VPN location to Italy (to match my language), and tried creating a new account. Before entering phone number or email, the app asks for my birth date. I put in a false one. The app failed to create an account, not citing any helpful error reason.
