just got word of this. idk all the details but i just did this and the toggle is in fact there and on by default. psa

EDIT: a couple clarifications

1. this is apparently news from a couple years back, like 2020

2. only eshop data is sent to google, and it's anonymized. fuck sending any data to google tho lol

3. the toggle is not appearing for some people. best guess seems to be that it's a gdpr thing

last night at dinner someone got something out of the dishwasher since there were none in the cabinet and then upon rejoining the rest of us announced that when they opened it there was a Noise and now the handle isn't going back down. when i went to get my own closing the dishwasher made the handle go back down so i assumed the problem had fixed itself. unfortunately, today, someone went to get something and the handle went back up but it didn't open. Whoops

in other news. now that she's up to it we're watching ace attorney anime and i was surprised to suddenly have captions even though it's dubbed and im even more fascinated by how i saw them spell "laurice deauxnim" correctly, implying at least some of the time these are being done by a human person who understands what's happening, but also some of the Japanese vocals in the opening theme got captioned "you fucking idiot, im a bus" which could only be the work of automation
