Any fedi friends able to host me in #paris next week 7th-10th, Fri-Sat-Sun nights?

Des amis fedi peuvent-ils m'héberger à #paris la semaine prochaine, du 7 au 10, les nuits de vendredi à samedi et de dimanche ?

So yeh sometimes slow and steady is more resilient.

I would say we actually need democratic (and hopefully one day mass) institutions that provide infra rather than individuals that run things on a whim but that's just me.

People dunked on the explicitly co-operative instances back in the day for being too slow and bureaucratic and policy driven.

Most of the instances that this critics were on are gone and the co-op instances are still standing.

YouTube is now blocking most VPN IP addresses and requiring users to sign in for a few months now afaik.

This is exactly what happened on birdsite in the years running up to it's takeover.

All of those people who were like "open source sucks", "I just want to get stuff done", "nobody cares" "I have nothing to hide" "we just want to use the big platforms" must eating shit now.

It always was an incredibly short sighted and naive strategy to just imagine big tech was going to remain benign to their needs.

We were arguing it never was and we were totally correct.

The real time for the left to invest in alternative libre platforms was ten years ago

All of us radical hacker types were totally correct. Everything we predicted has played out and believe me none of us feel smug about it. We're aghast.

Hey any #London folks

I'm DJing at Jago in Dalston next Friday. It's an all vinyl set for my friend's new party. A rare chance to see my play in the big smoke.

The music we be in the rough area of funk/disco/cosmic/reggae/world. This kinda fun soulful dance stuff.

If you do want to attend, please buy a ticket, it's only five quid!

Coming back to this toot after the economic news this week.

Basically if any sort of supposed vaguely progressive project (e.g. Keith's labour) isn't implementing a massively redistributive program taking resources away from the rich, they're so fucked, even by their own metrics.

Well considering our economy is based on, and to quote David Lynch "total fucking bullshit", this makes total sense.

I mean I personally would just tax the rich but that's just me.

Even economists that aren't even left wing think we should tax the rich. It's the only reliable way of increasing public spending and tackling inequality without relying on govt borrowing that results in the state being super reliant on the markets stability and interest rates.

Turns out UK has the highest govt borrowing interest rates in Europe.

This cowardly govt will not want to break their "no tax increases" pledge so we're possibly looking at more austerity. Fucking bleak.
