@jackie_pease tensegrity plus LEDs! Why haven't you built one of these already? Is it because it's not a something-ahedron? 😀

I wasn't expecting to see @DoESLiverpool featuring in the latest glossy video from the "Knowledge Quarter" detailing their "2040 Vision"

We are nominally in that part of town, but they usually studiously ignore us because we're actually doing things and so making their getting-public-money-to-build-empty-"Grade A"-offices schtick look bad 😁

I haven't worn a watch since my old Rotary got stolen years back, but am half-tempted to get one of these:

https://watchy.sqfmi.com/

Having found out about it due to the excitement about the not-open-source-hardware (AFAICT) #Pebble announcement.

The Watchy /is/ open-source hardware as well as software, and certified by @oshwassociation too 😍

Watching the AI bots algorithm walk back through my Interesting Things thread and boost things.

Not sure any of the AI fans following any of those bots (if there are any) will find anything they enjoy in there

Watching the flurry of responses from @DSITAnswers about #ArtificialIntelligence in response to questions tabled on 17/1/2025 and thinking "ah, yes, that must've been the day the Government barfed out that "AI" report" 😀

This week we worked out that EE now (it was announced last year, not sure when it got turned on) has an NB-IoT network.

We noticed because it decides to start dropping UDP packets after about 120KB of transfer, which is about 41% of the way through downloading a new firmware version.

Turns out the devices we thought were in poor network coverage and wouldn't update over the air had just chosen the EE network rather than the Vodafone one...

The only meaningful change I've spotted with Github's new "improved" issues UI is that they're now hiding some of the labels when you're trying to choose from them, with no indication that it isn't the full list. sigh

The train back from London last night got me in just too late to catch up with the #FolkRidingBikes. Still got out for an #InTheSaddle on my own though.

Nice after the poor weather of the past couple of weeks.

I could get them (well, the same set I got today) in one photo last time I posted about these https://mastodon.me.uk/@amcewen/109359211453779070

IIRC that day the BX was parked further along the road.

One perk of visiting this customer in London is that my route there takes me along Citroën alley.

Only the BX was missing today.

The real reason you're all salty about the Government's "AI" announcements is that the 1000 jobs from it are coming to #Liverpool

https://www.insidermedia.com/news/north-west/uk-government-unveils-plans-for-1000-new-ai-jobs-in-liverpool-as-it-looks-to-turbocharge-change

And that's because we've been using "AI" to fix potholes for nearly three years now! https://liverpoolexpress.co.uk/liverpool-looks-to-ai-to-improve-highways-investment/

Today's conference call was interrupted by a huge spider attacking me, or so it seemed to everyone else on the call.

I hadn't worried about the tiny money spider as it built a thread between my desk and laptop screen, but had to relocate it when it started hanging out in front of the webcam 🤣

I'm not saying it's cold today, but @huffeec seems to be huddled round the soldering iron to keep warm 🤣

Of course, he could also be adding an I2S ADC to the My Bike's Got LED prototype board to check that the sound-reactive lights options work.
