A vintage/classic computer board game? I’m not sure there’s a more perfect match for the Mastodon crowd: https://presale.computerjunkyardgame.com/
(I am unaffiliated with this product, but I am sure as hell buying it.)

If you happen to be looking for a great iOS/macOS RSS reader, I will direct you to News Reader: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/news-explorer/id1032668306
Just so good. You can go look at the store page yourself, but the new version 2.0 just got YouTube and Mastodon feeds as well. Looks great, all kinds of filtering, just stellar. (And you have to call out the good stuff when you find it.) Best part may be how it finds a feed just given the main site url—no need to dig for the exact feed yourself.

I’ve seen people recently debating the technical merit of Proton Mail (yes, for reasons). I think there’s a shortcut to all of this: if you really care about security, don’t use email. Email shouldn’t really ever be considered truly secure.

Thought this looked pretty cool for my studio Mac: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/neon-trip-wallpaper/id6739421526?mt=12
...but it requires macOS 15 (and if you run a studio, you understand why things may not get upgraded on day 1!).
Not quite as cool, but for now, just wrote my own in Processing, which will be a constant reminder to a) upgrade and then b) go buy Neon Trip once I do.

How many of these have we done now? Always positive results. When do we stop making these an “experiment” or “study” and put this into action?

I see a bunch of people talking about testing web sites on less-than-ideal networks. If you're developing/testing on macOS and don't want to take a trip to Antarctica to test, download, "Additional Tools for Xcode..." from the Apple developer site, which contains the Network Link Conditioner pref pane. This will allow you to simulate poor network conditions (like slow, and/or lossy). Don't get caught by surprise: test your sites!
